Our story

A boatbuilder and a nurse.

Mark spent years building boats. Rachel spent years as a nurse. Neither of us set out to build caravans. We just wanted one we'd trust to take anywhere.

So in 2022 we started in a shed in Beerwah, and Mark built one using everything boats had taught him: a full composite body that won't rot, won't leak and can take a hammering on the corrugations. One van turned into the next, and the next.

Rachel brought what nursing teaches you. Listen properly. Look after people. Never cut corners when it matters. It's why every build starts with a chat, not a sales pitch. It's why every owner gets their own portal and signs off each part of their design. And it's why we still pick up the phone long after you've driven away.

Two years later we'd outgrown the shed, and in 2024 we moved into our own factory in Caboolture. No two vans we've built have ever been the same.

Why Grit

Wake up somewhere different.

Grit means two things to us.

The vans. Built tough for real Australian off-road conditions: corrugations, river crossings, red dust and long stays off-grid.

The people. We're a small family business that has grown through hard work and determination. And our customers have the same grit to get out and explore.

Our motto, Wake Up Somewhere Different, is what every build is for.

What we stand for

Three things we won't compromise on.

01
Built properly

Tough enough for remote tracks, with a premium finish inside. Full composite, timber-free, with a chassis we fabricate ourselves.

02
Built your way

Not off a production line. Every van is designed around how you travel, so no two are the same.

03
Straight talking

Friendly, honest and easy to reach. You can see your build in progress, talk to the people building it, and call us long after you drive away.

Who we build for

People who know how they travel.

Couples doing the big lap. Families travelling Australia. Serious off-grid travellers heading where the bitumen ends.

Most of our customers have done their research. They know what they want, and they want it built their way. That's exactly what we do. And when they send us photos from the road, we celebrate their trips like they're our own.

How we build

Rot-free, from the floor up.

There's no timber anywhere in an Offroad Grit RV. Mark brought what he learned building boats: a seamless composite floor, sandwich-panel walls and roof, and lightweight PVC cabinetry bonded in, with aluminium extrusions where the floor meets the walls. Nothing to rot, swell or leak.

And underneath: our four chassis

The team

The people who build your van.

Chassis, body, cabinetry, plumbing and electrical are all built by our own team. The same people who build your van are the ones you'll meet when you visit the factory.
